I suck at this.
It has almost been a year since I last wrote. To put it another way, I was almost 8 months pregnant with Carter when I last posted and he is now 9 months old. So much has happened these past 10 months, I just don't know where to pick up. Last summer alone:
We moved back to America
We had a baby
We found out Shane would be rotating at ARMC
Shane took and rocked Step 1 of his medical boards
We moved to California
Being the wife of a medical student is crazy! You would think that these grueling 4 years would just drag on but in fact it is the opposite. Time flies! Period. Grenada went so fast and this clinical year is going even faster. Things are constantly changing. Every six weeks, Shane starts a new rotation. This means a new schedule, new patients, new residents, new attendings, new on-call hours, new everything. Once you are in the swing of things, it starts all over again. You would think it would get old having everything change all the time but it's actually really awesome! It is so nice to hate the hours that Shane is gone but realize that it will only be like this for "a few more weeks." It's nice to have six weeks of a crappy schedule and then realizing that the next six weeks will be a way more relaxed one. It's nice to have a rotation where Shane is home during a few days of the week to spend time with our boys and the trade-off is working some nights. But then it's also nice to have him working a rotation with normal clinic hours so he is able to spend the evenings with us. It's hard to explain and I guess you don't really get what it's like until you are in it. The point is, we live our lives six weeks at a time around here and it's really not that bad! Did I mention that when you are living like this time flies? It's not that I am wishing time away, it just really is a fun time for our family. Shane has much more time to spend with us and it is great.
Some things haven't changed even since Grenada. We spend a lot of our time outside enjoying this beautiful California weather. I always thought I was the type of person that wanted to live somewhere that had all 4 seasons but boy has that changed. I think Grenada ruined it for me and now that I'm experiencing this weather, I don't want it any other way. I love that I can take Jeremy and Carter outside every single day to go on walks, ride bikes, go to the park, and hang out at the pool/hottub and soak up the sun. I would say that half of our day is spent outside and it is great! It doesn't hurt that we have fun neighbors in every direction who we have play dates with every single day.
It's sad to say that I haven't ventured into LA yet. I don't really want to tackle that without Shane and it's hard to find a good time. Trying to find my way around and where to park and doing everything we want to do without having to battle with traffic to and from LA just seems overwhelming with two kids and no husband. Maybe that's just me, I'm a whimp. We have season passes to SeaWorld and that is a blast! We are hoping to get Season passes to Disneyland this summer when both the boys are a little bit older and can enjoy it more and Jeremy is tall enough to go on more rides. So that will be fun when the time comes! Anyway, we love it here and I can't believe we will only be here for one more year!
No pictures this time. If you really want to see our beautiful faces check out Instagram or facebook. Blogger takes WAY too long to upload photos. This is me being lazy. Consider yourself caught up until next January!
